I feel like a lot of people struggle with their weight and this is something I have first hand experience with believe me.  I have so many failed attempts at trying to slim down in my 63 years that I’ve lost count.

Things really hit home when I came to the realization that my grandkids might grow up without me if I carried on the way I was going and the thought terrified me.

When my first grandchild was born, I was so proud and happy.  I wanted to be the greatest grandma ever!

There was one big, obvious problem. I was 289 pounds and some days I couldn't even find the energy to climb the stairs to my bedroom.

I certainly wasn’t the grandma I thought I was going to be.

I didn’t know what to do, I tried everything before and failed.

Feeling desperate I went to the doctor and they did all the usual tests.  What the doctor said shocked me - I had early onset diabetes and high cholesterol.

He said to eat less and exercise more if I had any hope to drop the pounds and become healthier.

I felt more depressed than ever at the news and instead of doing what the doctor had told me I put on more weight. I felt embarrassed, like a failure, and I started to get depressed because I couldn’t see a way out.

Was I going to be overweight for the rest of my life?

When it all became too much I finally called my friend and told her about everything I was going through. I was embarrassed but it actually felt good to let it all out.

"I want to be here to watch my grandchildren grow up, but I'm afraid I won't be here if I keep going down this road."

That’s when my friend told me about her sister’s unusual 'rice method’.

All I remember thinking was ...rice??? What?

I’d never heard of anything like it and, honestly, I didn’t care what the solution was. I only cared about if it would help me be around for my grandkids.  I knew my friend's sister and had heard from other friends that she looked amazing and had dropped a good 50 pounds but I thought she must have been on some silly fad that involved eating 500 cals a day which I could never do so I didn't pay much attention.

Now that my friend told me what her sister had done and how easy it was I was excited, it sounded too good to be true but I’d tried everything else so why not?  Sometimes you’ve just got to say YES when an opportunity presents itself and after watching the video where Dr Walker explains everything it really opened up my eyes as to why we’ve all been fooled.

Like so many other women my age I had wasted so much of my life believing in the wrong things

Now I know that my weight gain had nothing to do with:

How much exercise you do

How many calories you eat

If you eat carbs

Which fad diet you’re on


And even ageing - thank the doctors for that lie!

Like many women my age, I believed in myths—exercise, calories, carbs, fad diets—all useless. They want you to believe that you're at fault, that you're the one who's broken.

But here’s the truth - IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!

This simple ‘rice method’ changed everything for me.

I dropped from 289 to 144 and look better than ever

I have more energy than ever

I still get to eat all my favorite foods

My headaches have stopped

I started having the best night's sleep

I LOVE going clothes shopping knowing everything will fit

The choices are:

1. Worry every day about what food I should be eating and feeling sorry for myself when I've have ‘failed again’

Of course I chose “2” and I am so passionate about sharing this routine with anyone who’s willing to hear me out.

When I recently went back to my doctors I can tell his jaw dropped to the floor, he couldn’t believe it.  I told him what I was doing and he had actually heard of it.  The industry is worth 78 billion so it’s no surprise why he didn’t share this information!  He said he was really happy for me and to carry on with it.  After redoing my tests he wasn’t surprised to share the happy news that I was no longer in danger of being diabetic and my cholesterol levels were now in a healthy range.  I was over the moon!  I felt like I’d really achieved something and was proud of myself for once.

The fact that it has worked for me, yes, me, even in my 60s when I thought it might be too late!


I believe that if it can work for me, it can definitely work for you too.

I feel younger than I did 20 years ago and I definitely look better. I have had so many compliments and I can tell you it never gets old haha, I love it.  When people ask me how I did it I tell them!  So many people like to keep it a secret because they don’t want others to look good and I can’t understand why. I’m happy to share it so others can feel as good as I do.

Today, I’m enjoying being a grandma. I have the energy to play games, take them on trips and even have sleepovers, something I never thought I’d be able to do. I’m happier than ever and so excited for the future.
